Voice Lessons and Vocal Coaching
Producer-Director
ABOUT ME:
I hold a Master’s Degree in Voice with an Opera Specialization, from the State University of New York at Binghamton, where I was also a member of Tri-Cities Opera Company’s “Artist in Residence Program”. I have performed onstage in a professional capacity for many years. From Opera to Concerts with Orchestra, to Musical Theatre to Piano Bar (and some Karaoke thrown in for fun)…I have a wide variety of experiences upon which to draw. I have taught privately for years and am currently on the faculty of Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida and Rollins College, in Winter Park, Fl.
Over the years I have given several Masters’ Classes, most recently at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, where I had the opportunity to work with a number of junior and senior voice students. During these classes we discuss various things, including stage presence, character development, diction, conveying the text, and communicating with the audience.
Something I truly enjoy is producing and directing. I have directed operatic excerpts, musical theatre pieces, and various other types of music.
ABOUT YOU:
I can’t promise you will be the next big singing sensation, or American Idol, but I do believe I can help you to be a better singer, simply by making you aware of the “tools” you need in order to have control over your voice to make the most of what you have, to improve your technique & to polish your skills. We’re talking the basics here: breathing, support, placement, resonance, diction, interpretation, etc. Whether you simply want to be a better church choir singer or you sing Karaoke for your own enjoyment or you see yourself onstage somewhere in the future…there are ways to help EACH of you attain whatever your goals may be. I will be honest and upfront with you, I will not simply “take your money” but instead will talk to you about the things you wish to accomplish and together we will determine how to best realize your ambitions.
With my many years of onstage experience I can coach you in all aspects of performance. Singers sometimes don’t think about the “acting” part of what they do. Communication with an audience is absolutely essential for any performer. I believe in singing “the meaning of the words” at all times. Are you considering going onto a Graduate school or are you interested in applying for an Apprenticeship somewhere to study voice? Even if you are hoping to simply do some auditions locally for your neighborhood community theatre, let me assist you in preparing for your auditions. I can consult with you on everything from choosing the right repertoire to putting together a résumé and biography, to finding the right photographer for your headshots. I promise that you will work in a fun, supportive, healthy environment and I will endeavor to help you in any way I can.
